The 40 over 40 Portrait Project Spotlight -Jodi Brandstetter, 42

CEO, Entrepreneur, Talent Strategist, Recruitment Expert

For Jodi the 40 over 40 Portrait Project was a chance to step out of her comfort zone. A self professed Tom Boy, she doesn’t typically wear a lot of makeup and get “glammed up.” In addition to headshots, and business photos, Jodi also wanted to see what her glamorous side looked like!

Tell us about Jodi the professional

I am an entrepreneur, I do talent acquisition consulting, and I help business experts become authors. I love what I do, because throughout my career, all I’ve ever wanted to do was help people. And when you help people, it helps companies. So being in talent acquisition, you’re always wanting to help the business succeed, but also make sure that people thrive. Becoming a publisher has been a complete different experience than I never thought I would ever have. I always thought I was going to be in recruiting. Publishing gives me the ability to help other entrepreneurs be able to have success and be able to get their voice out there into the world!

What drew you to the 40 over 40 portrait project?

I have struggled with loving myself since I was a child. I’m what I call a Type A Crazy person where perfection is the only way to do anything. I have been working on this for several years and have started to really love me for me. This is important to me because I have a 6 year old daughter who I want to raise to love herself unconditionally and be a strong person at the same time. Also, I am in this transition of understanding who I am as a business owner and what legacy I want to leave. It would be fun to connect with other women who are loving themselves and 40 and older.

Additionally, my whole life I’ve been a tomboy. I never wear this much makeup in my life. And being able to come in here and show my feminine side to be able to get all glammed up and be able to use these pictures for myself but also for my business, is why I’m here today. I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and do something I’ve never done before. And I think every woman should do this, especially when you’re over 40 Because you have to love yourself for who you are. And if you don’t do that, you’re not getting the full life experience.

The Photographer’s Perspective

Jodi was an absolute delight to work with on the 40 over 40 portrait project! Having the opportunity to meet and work with one of the most talented and well known Entrepreneurs in Cincinnati was a great privilege! In our studio the goal is for our clients to feel right at home and Jodi became a part of the Janel Lee Photography family right away! For Jodi’s portrait session we focused on both beauty and glamour images, and headshot and personal branding, or business portraits. This is literally the best of both worlds because fresh image rich digital content is important for all entrepreneurs and business owners.

We started Jodi’s session off with a few business portraits with a lifestyle feel. After that, it was time to get out the beautiful sequin gowns and other fun things! We laughed, sang, and even twirled a few dresses. We can’t say enough about this incredibly bright and beautiful woman! Thanks for being amazing Jodi!
