As we age, it’s natural to want to hold onto our youth and to feel beautiful in our own skin. That’s why we launched the 40 Over 40 Portrait Project, to help people embrace their beauty as they age and to capture that beauty through photography. In this blog post, we will share the story of Jill Hartmann, a 49-year-old professional woman and soon-to-be empty nester, who participated in the project as a way to celebrate the next phase of her life. We will discuss her background, her experience with the project, and her insights on embracing beauty and celebrating life’s phases. So, let’s dive in and learn more about Jill’s inspiring journey!
Background on Jill
Jill is a 49-year-old professional woman with an impressive career in the insurance industry. Early on in her career, she coached agents on how to expand their business and build stronger relationships with clients, which gave her valuable insights into how to convey the true value of life insurance, disability income insurance, and planning for the future. Today, as VP of Marketing and Communications, Jill’s focus is on ensuring her team understands how to use the latest approaches to recruit, onboard, train, and reward agents.
Jill’s leadership skills are evident in her ability to listen to and inspire team members, as well as her talent for developing strategies to stay ahead in a rapidly changing field. She is also skilled in problem-solving, organizing, and executing both big and small projects. Her ability to turn the big picture into the practical and create a positive work environment that fosters creativity has been a key to her success.
Outside of work, Jill is passionate about photography and calligraphy. She believes that both art forms have taught her the power of focus, patience, and visual storytelling. They have also given her space for quiet time and contemplation, which she finds essential to maintaining her well-being. Her love of creativity has allowed her to see the beauty in the world around her and to inspire others to do the same.
The 40 Over 40 Portrait Project
Jill was recommended to participate in the project by Kendra Ramirez, a friend and a former participant. Jill shared with us her desire to celebrate the next phase of her life, to reconnect with her husband, travel, and rekindle other interests. She recognized the importance of embracing her age and beauty, and this project was the perfect opportunity to do so.
Jill’s Experience with the Project
The photoshoot experience brought out a range of emotions for Jill, from nervousness to excitement and empowerment. Despite feeling self-conscious, she grew more confident as the shoot progressed. The final portraits captured her beauty and spirit, allowing her to appreciate her unique features and embrace her age and beauty. The project had a profound impact on her outlook, as she recognized that aging is something to celebrate rather than fear.
Embracing Beauty and Celebrating Life’s Phases
Jill’s participation in the project gave her a new perspective on aging and beauty. Her advice is to focus on the things that make us unique, to appreciate the changes that come with age, and to stay active and engaged in life. The project reminded her of the importance of self-love, growth, and embracing our age with grace and pride.
