For the past 20 years, Christy has been on a transformative weight loss journey, shedding over 130 pounds. But the physical change was just one part of the equation—learning to see and embrace the new version of herself was another challenge altogether. “For the first time in over 35 years, I bought clothes in a normal store,” she shared. “I cried in the dressing room.”
Like many women, Christy found it difficult to see beyond the image she had of herself for so many years. Despite her incredible personal and professional accomplishments, she struggled to fully recognize the strong, beautiful woman she had become. When a friend introduced her to the 40 Over 40 project, she knew it was the perfect opportunity to break down the final walls holding her back from truly embracing her success.

Though she entered the session feeling nervous and a little scared, Christy’s experience in front of the camera was nothing short of transformative. “I felt empowered. I felt beautiful. I felt this new energy about me that I didn’t think I would feel after a day like this.”
The support and care from the photography team made all the difference, ensuring she felt comfortable and celebrated throughout the process. It was about embracing confidence, femininity, and strength in a way she never had before.

As the Vice President of Customer Service at American Modern Insurance Group, Christy is a leader, a mentor, and a driving force for positive change. But beyond the professional titles, she is a woman who, like so many others, has spent years giving to others while putting herself last.
She reflected on why she believes every woman should experience a portrait session like this: “So many women live their lives under different titles—mom, boss, wife, aunt—but we forget to see ourselves for who we truly are. We are constantly the caregivers, and we rarely take the time to celebrate ourselves.”
